Local experience

Since 1996

An air conditioning unit that stops cooling in the August heat, a water heater that fails to fire on a Sunday morning with a full house, or a pool heat pump that locks out the day the family arrive. Breakdowns on the Costa del Sol happen at the worst possible moment, usually when the property is fullest. We run a callout service for air conditioning, water heaters, gas fires, pool plant, central heating and electrical faults across the coast from Nerja to Gibraltar, with priority response for maintenance-contract holders and a same-week best-effort for everyone else. EnviroCare has been fixing equipment we did not always install, out of Mijas, since 1996.

What we cover on a callout

The team carries the most-needed spares on the van, which clears the majority of faults on the first visit. Where a part is on order, we typically get it on the property within two to four working days from a local distributor. The systems we cover are the same ones we install on a new fit-out.

  • Air conditioning: not cooling, not heating, leaking water, error codes, frozen coils
  • Water heaters: no hot water, lukewarm output, leaking tank, scaled element
  • Gas fires and gas water heaters: no ignition, weak flame, error codes
  • Pool heat pumps: not heating, error codes, ice on the unit
  • Pool pumps and filters: motor seized, pressure drop, blocked impeller
  • Central heating: cold radiators, boiler lockout, pressure loss
  • Electrical: tripping breakers, no power on a circuit, storm damage

Diagnose before re-gas

The most common request we get on an AC callout is to re-gas a unit that is no longer cooling. Refrigerant in a sealed AC circuit does not get consumed, which means a unit that is low on gas has a leak somewhere. Re-gassing without finding the leak is a short-term fix that puts the customer back on the phone in eight weeks with the same problem and a flatter wallet. Our engineers run a leak test, pressure-check the pipework and either repair the leak or quote for a replacement unit before any refrigerant goes back in. Refrigerant disposal and recovery are F-Gas regulated work and we keep the paperwork on file.

Repair or replace

Some faults are worth fixing. Some are not. The decision usually turns on age, parts availability and the cost of the repair against the cost of a new install. A ten-year-old wall split with a failed indoor PCB is rarely worth the repair, because the parts cost approaches the price of a new unit and the new unit comes with a warranty and current-generation efficiency. A five-year-old ducted system with a failed control board is normally worth fixing, because the rest of the unit has years of life left. We give the honest answer on the survey, with both quotes side by side.

Response time and the maintenance contract case

Contract holders go to the front of the callout list. In July and August that matters more than in any other month, because the team is fully booked on scheduled servicing and emergency callouts run on a fixed priority. Non-contract callers are slotted in around the priority work, which in peak season can mean a wait of several days. The annual cost of a maintenance contract typically sits below a single emergency callout in August.

How the work runs

From first call to commissioned system

  1. Step 1

    Report the fault

Call the office on +34 952 663 141, send a WhatsApp to +34 670 409 759 with a description and a photo of any error code, or use the contact form. Out-of-hours WhatsApp messages are picked up the next working morning.

  2. Step 2

    Confirm and book

We confirm the symptom, the property location and any maintenance-contract status, and book a callout slot. Contract holders go to the front of the queue. Non-contract callers are slotted around the priority work.

  3. Step 3

    Diagnosis

An engineer attends with the most-needed spares on the van and runs a fault-diagnosis on the system. Most callouts identify the fault on the first visit. Where a part is on order, we confirm the lead time before the engineer leaves.

  4. Step 4

    Repair or quote

Minor faults clear on the first visit. Major faults end with a written quote for the repair or a replacement-unit alternative, both numbers side by side, before any further work.

  5. Step 5

    Warranty on repairs

Repaired parts carry a one-year EnviroCare warranty on labour and the new component. New unit installs done as a replacement carry the standard three-year EnviroCare parts and labour warranty.

Why EnviroCare

Local experience that matters on the job

Trading since 1996

Close to thirty years on the Costa del Sol fixing and servicing equipment, sometimes the same equipment we installed twenty years earlier.

F-Gas registered

Air-conditioning leak testing, recovery and recharging is F-Gas regulated work in Spain. Our engineers hold current certification.

Vans stocked with the most-needed spares

Filters, capacitors, contactors, common control boards, fuses and basic plumbing fittings travel on every callout. Most faults clear on the first visit.

Priority for contract holders

Maintenance-contract holders go to the front of the callout list in peak season. Annual contract cost sits below a single emergency callout in August.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

My air conditioning has stopped cooling. Can you just re-gas it?

Refrigerant in a sealed AC circuit does not get consumed, so a unit that is low on gas has a leak. We run a leak test, identify the cause and quote for either a sealed-system repair or a replacement unit before any refrigerant goes back in. Re-gassing without finding the leak puts you back in the same position within weeks.

How fast can you respond in August?

Maintenance-contract holders go to the front of the callout list and typically see an engineer within one to two working days in peak season. Non-contract callers are slotted in around the priority work, which in July and August can mean a wait of three to five working days. The contract pays for itself on the first August callout.

Will my warranty still apply if you do the repair?

Manufacturer warranty on an existing unit stays valid as long as the repair is done by a registered installer and the service paperwork goes on file. We are registered for F-Gas work, registered as gas installers and registered as electricians. Repaired parts also carry a one-year EnviroCare labour warranty.

Should I repair or replace an old air conditioning unit?

Ten-year-old wall splits are usually past the point where repair makes sense, because the parts cost approaches the price of a new unit and a replacement comes with a fresh warranty and better efficiency. Five-year-old units are normally worth repairing. We give both quotes side by side on the survey.

Do you fix equipment that someone else installed?

Yes. We service and repair equipment regardless of who installed it. The first visit takes a little longer because the engineer logs the make, model and age, but from there the repair runs the same way as on our own installs.

What about pool plant breakdowns?

Pool heat pumps, pumps, filters and pool lighting are part of the callout cover. The most common faults are blocked impellers, failed pump motors, and heat pumps locking out on a high-pressure error. We carry common spares on the van and most pool callouts clear on the first visit.
