Product advice
Aquatermic
Aquatermic is the workhorse of the Costa del Sol pool heater market and the brand we recommend most often for private villas and rental pools. The units are Spanish-designed, parts come off the shelf at any pool wholesaler from Estepona to Almeria, and the build holds up to fifteen years of coastal weather without the corrosion problems that catch out cheaper imports. EnviroCare has installed Aquatermic since the brand became widely available on the coast in the early 2010s and we hold stock of the most-fitted sizes for next-day install through the heating season.
About the brand
Aquatermic is part of Hitecsa, a Spanish HVAC manufacturer founded in Barcelona in the 1980s. The brand specialises in pool heat pumps and aerothermal water heaters for the Spanish residential market. The advantage of a domestic manufacturer for a Costa del Sol owner is straightforward: the engineer support is in country, the technical documentation is in Spanish to start with, and the parts pipeline runs through Madrid and Barcelona rather than across a port. A failed fan motor or pressure switch is a two-day part rather than a two-week wait on a container from Asia.
The range we fit
Aquatermic cover the full residential and small-community range. The 9 to 12 kW units suit small private pools of 30 to 40 cubic metres, typical of an apartment-block community pool or a townhouse pool. The 13 to 18 kW range is the volume seller, fitted on standard villa pools of 50 to 70 cubic metres. The 20 to 30 kW units handle larger pools of 80 to 100 cubic metres, often as a single unit on a generously-sized villa pool or as twin smaller units on a community pool. All units run on R32 refrigerant on the modern range, with inverter compressors on the mid and upper specifications.
Where Aquatermic fits and where it does not
Aquatermic is the default fit for private villa pools, rental properties and townhouse community pools. It buys solid build quality at a fair price, sensible parts availability and a manufacturer that knows the Spanish market. It is the right call for an owner who wants a serviceable unit that will see fifteen years of use without unpleasant surprises. It is the wrong call for someone shopping purely on noise output where the Astra Pool premium range is quieter, or for a luxury villa where the controller sophistication of the Astra Pool unit matches the rest of the home automation. Aquatermic is the workhorse, Astra Pool is the executive option.
What the install includes
A standard Aquatermic install covers removal of any old heater, supply and fit of the new heat pump, level concrete base or anti-vibration pad, the pipework tee into the existing pool circulation with isolation valves either side, condensate drain run, electrical circuit and RCD certified by a registered electrician, F-Gas refrigerant work, and full commissioning with flow rate set against the pool volume. A flow check on the existing circulation pump confirms it can move enough water through the new unit. Owners get the Aquatermic manufacturer warranty plus the EnviroCare three-year parts and labour warranty on top, and the F-Gas declaration goes on file the day of the install.
